An archive of 35 documents relating to Thomas Sewell of Alnwick, a cabinet maker, who died in 1793. A copy of his will shows that he left his property in Alnwick to his three daughters. The Duke of Northumberland wanted to take the property back into his possession and the bulk of the documents are for the most part copy letters sent to his daughters and others in this matter. Two of the daughters had moved to the Philadelphia, USA. Some letters were sent via Quebec, others New York. There is a brief pedigree, the writing somewhat faint, but the information is discernible.
