Indenture made 24th August 1771 between Robert Hesketh of Liverpool, in the county of Lancaster, wine merchant, eldest son and heir of John Hesketh, late of Warrington, merchant, of the 1st part, Thomas Porter of Ackhurst within Orrell, in the said county, of the 2nd part, and Richard Guest of Pennington, in the said county, surgeon, midwife and apothecary, of the 3rd part…..a lengthy preamble referring to an earlier deed and which contains much information. This deed is a reconveyance of a mortgage relating to property in Orrell called Ropers. Signed and sealed by Robert and William Hesketh. On one sheet of parchment, c 88 x63 cms, one hole in centre of deed, several very small holes, some rubbing in folds, light staining overall.
