Lease for land in NEWCHURCH, in the Isle of White – 1797

Indenture made 29th September 1797 between Richard Foquett of Newport, in the Isle of White, in the county of Southampton, Gentleman, of the one part, and Robert Jacob of the parish of Newchurch, in the Isle of White, yeoman, of the other part….being a lease for 21 years of several pieces of arable pasture and meadow land called vinecomb, containing about 100 acres….together with the barn thereon, in the parish of Newchurch, at a yearly rent of £90. The document is signed by Robert Jacobs (sic). On parchment, c 80 x 72 cms, some tears in the lower horizontal deed fold, some light staining overall, but in good condition.
