Invoice for rent and tithes due to TRINITY COLLEGE, Cambridge, in 1787.

A letter from Trinity College, Cambridge, addressed to Charles Wren (solicitor in Newcastle), being an account of rent and tithes due to the college at Lady Day last past for the Rectory of Gainford. It is dated 10th April 1787 and signed and sealed by John Wilson. On one sheet of paper, folded in half, c 16 x 21 cms, a piece of paper torn off in the lower right hand corner, as also a small piece lacking where the seal was affixed.

The Reverend John Wilson MA was a senior fellow and bursar of Trinity College, Cambridge, Vicar of Gainford, in the county of Durham, and Catterick, in the county of York, as also Prebendary of Llandarf; he was a JP for Yorkshire. He died in 1791 aged 52. The seal, in red wax, depict his crest, a demi-wolf rampant, but the impression is poor, and it appears that either a monogram or his full arms were used below.
